Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)

Kisan Vikas Patras (KVPs) are available at all Head Post Offices and authorized post offices throughout India. The KVPs are measured as the most safe investment tool, as it has the backing of the Government of India. The principal is assured (guaranteed) and it is deemed to be a safe avenue for investing your money.

KVP is suitable for an increase in investment as it accumulates money at a fixed rate, and money doubles at the end of the specified period. It is for those looking for guaranteed returns.

Who can purchase Kisan Vikas Patra:

  • An adult in his own name or on behalf of a minor,
  • A minor,
  • A Trust,
  • Two adults jointly.

Where available

Available for purchase/issue at Post Offices.

Maturity amount / period :

With effect from 1st March, 2003, invested amount doubles on maturity
after Eight Years and Seven months.

Nomination :

Nomination facility is available.

Denomination / Deposit limits

  • Certificates are available in denominations (face value) of Rs. 100, Rs.
    500, Rs. 1000, Rs. 5000, Rs. 10,000 & Rs. 50,000.
  • There is no maximum limit for purchase of the certificates.

Tax Benefits under Kisan Vikas Patra:

No income tax benefit is available under the scheme. However the deposits
are exempt from Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) at the time of withdrawal.

Premature encashment :

Premature encashment of the certificate is not permissible except at a
discount in the case of death of the holder(s), forfeiture by a pledgee and
when ordered by a court of law.

Place of Encashment/discharge on maturity :

Can be encashed/discharged at the post office where it is registered or any other post
office.

Replacement of Kisan Vikas Patra

A duplicate certificate (Kisan Vikas Patra) may be issued if the certificate is lost, stolen destroyed, mutilated or defaced, provided a satisfactory evidence is produced about such loss, theft, destruction, mutilation or defacement.

    Hi,
    I have a KVP (5 and half years) of Aug 2004, purchase value was Rs 5000. At that time, the scheme was double in 5 and half years.
    How can I encash it now and how much will I receive?

    1. that can we see my update online or can we get any other proof in my email id if that certificate lost….
    2.after maturity is there any processure to withdraw online.

    1- full amount
    2- pension
    3- 1/2 pension /1/2 amount to be withdrawn.

    I have purchased KVP at Haryana. Presently i am at Odisha. The KVP was matured in the year 2013. I have submitted an application as per advice of postmaster for transfer/clearance of KVP for Reimbursement. Till date i have not received any confirmation from Post office since 7 months gone.

    Suggest me how can i get the money.

    I am an aged Sr.citizen ,77 years old.I need to en cash my KVP acquired by investing an amount of Rs 24000 on 04-02-09.Certificates in my possession are 2nos Rs 10000 each and 4nos Rs 1000 each Before maturity date,(04-09-2017 when the amount will be doubled) I like to surrender my whole 6 nos certificates of value Rs 24000 for redemption.I have not taken either any advance or loan amount against certificates mortgaging. On 19-10-14 if the certificates are handed over to issuing post office( after 5years 6 months and 15 days) what amount will be paid .

    The Scheme KVP was discontinued with effect from 1.12.2011. Hence please remove the contents from your website. Then KVP had in built provision for Pre mature encashment after 2 and half years. I am the Investment Consultant for the Govt. of India.

      Hi, my father had invested in KVP and NSC from Kolkata during service however he is no more.Kinldy suggest the procedure for withdrawal as my mother is the nominee for it.
      What is the document we need to send and to whom?
      how much time it will take?
      Is there any online procedure available?
